2004 Toyota 4Runner Limited
Rating: 5 out of 5
The Toyota 4Runner in the Limited trim level is a Sport Utility Vehicle advertised at $34,085, placing it in the mid range price level for this type of automobile. The vehicle is available as a two wheel drive or a four wheel drive drive train.
This is the fourth revision of the vehicle since its introduction in 1984. The body style of the 2004 model was actually introduced in the 2003 model year. Most of the changes resulted in a larger vehicle than the previous versions.
The interior controls and dash panel are laid out in an ergonomic manner. The speedometer, fuel gauge, and RPM gauge are large and offer backlighting for easy reading. The controls for the air conditioner, heating, and radio have big knobs and buttons in order to make changes with simple movements. Both seats located in the front can be adjusted in multiple ways. The rear bench seat is designed like seats in a theater, allowing passengers to view the road ahead. An optional third is available for customers to purchase as well.
The engine choices are a standard 4.0 V6 and the optional 4.7 V8. Transmission choices are an automatic with 4 speeds for the V6 engine and the V8 has an automatic with 5 speeds. The larger engine has more horsepower and is also less fuel efficient than the V6. In order to assist drivers when going uphill the ascent control is standard on all 4Runners. This feature keeps the vehicle from a backwards slide. The new suspension is designed to keep the vehicle under better control while also providing a more comfortable ride.
A JBL audio system offers clear and crisp audio for listening pleasure. Rear passengers can view the available DVD based player for entertainment. An optional camera posted at the back of the vehicle to provide a view when reversing.
