Sennheiser HD 800

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

These are one of the most expensive ear-phones today, but they provide the best listening experience. It may be hard to believe that recorded music can sound any better than how it already sound but you will change your mind once you get to try these ear-phones out. These have been the rave of audiophiles since they came out and are definitely a must have for any true audiophile collector who can afford to spend $1400 for a set.
These are circumaural earphones, meaning they go around your ear. Sennheiser has always been famous for not only producing earphones with quality sound, but great comfort as well, these are no exception. They provide the most natural hearing experience with almost no distortion, meaning you will feel as if you are in the recording studio when the music was recorded. The soundstage it is able to recreate is amazing and the detail it is able to provide the listener is nothing short of legendary. Every instrument is brought to light, and no matter how tiny the sound that a triangle made at the back of the recording room you will be able to hear it. The clarity at which the earphones produce the sound is worth every cent that you paid for.
If there was a downside to the earphones other than the price, which I honestly think is worth it for the quality, it would be that the ear-phones are a bit difficult to drive. So if your source is a portable device it might not be enough to bring out the sound of the HD800 and an amplifier will probably be necessary. That would mean another purchase. Most audiophiles don't mind this though because it only enhances the sound that the HD800 produces. These are definnatly a must have set of ear-phones.
