Whirlpool DU1030XTXS Full Console Dishwasher - Stainless Steel
Rating: 4 out of 5
We had this dishwasher put into our old home about two years ago, and in hindsight, we should have taken it with us when we sold our home. I was very happy with it, and am decidedly unhappy with the dishwasher that came with our new home.
The only quibble I had with this dishwasher was that loading the dishes could be kind of awkward. There's a lid on the silverware holder, so you have to be careful of how you load the silverware into it, and I usually had one or two pieces jammed into the lid when the cycle was done. I also usually put large utensils in the upper rack, laying them down up there rather than in the silverware basket. That was a pretty minor issue, though, considering that the silverware was always clean.
The rows of the upper rack are also a little narrow, making it awkward to try to place larger mugs or other items up there. Again, this was a minor problem for me. Even when I had to put things in an awkward position, they still came out clean.
The best thing about this dishwasher was that I almost never had to rewash or pre-wash anything. The dishwasher heats the water excellently, and that really hot water really gets the job done. Our glasses were always crystal clear and sparkling. The hot water also did a great job on getting stuck-on foods off of our dishes, even if we didn't do a very good job of rinsing or scraping. Another great thing about how well the water is heated is that I never needed the heated dry cycle, which was a big plus for me, as I like to save on electricity wherever I can.
I sorely miss this dishwasher and will probably buy the same one when we are able to replace the appliances that came with our new home.
