Wusthof Gourmet 7-Piece Knife Set with Block

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

The Wusthof Gourmet 7-Piece Knife Block Set is among the more highly priced knife sets at $299 retail, but with price comes quality, and this is certainly the case with this set. Knife sets have become popular throughout the world for amateur cookers who are looking to expand their menus, their tastes, their kitchens and their appetites. Though a good product, it is perhaps too expensive for the 7 knives contained. You can purchase nearly 14 knives for a price less than double of the $299 suggested for this set.

With more professional information available than ever before, with cookbooks and shows populating stores and television channels, it has become easier than ever to make gourmet foods. And for many dishes, this is best done with the easiest to use and most effective knife sets. This is where the Wusthof Gourmet 7-Piece block set has come in for me, and it has changed the attitude of my kitchen and my cooking.

The set includes a straight edge pairing knife, a utility knife and a break knife as the standard tools, but also offers a cook's knife, a sharpening steel accessory and come-apart kitchen shears. The blades all fit easily and conveniently into a 7-slot wooden block made of beechwood.

The knives have been laser cut, and tested for consistency and sharpness as well. They feature synthetic handles with compressed rivets, and are made of high carbon and stain resistant steel. Nine pounds worth of knives, they are easy to both ship and cheap to transport.

The knives are useful because of their versatility, and the absolutely sharp edges which will leave you slicing through your foods, instead of engaging in laborious cutting. They feature blade from 4.5 inches to 2.7 inches, and the steak knife set can be used for a fine dining experience at your home. Hard to find anything wrong with quality knives, the look and use of these would satisfy any need for quality knives in a kitchen looking for luxury.
