Black & Decker NS118 Leaf Blower

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

I just purchased a new home and was in the market for a light duty leaf blower for the sidewalks and driveway. A friend of mine recommended the Black and Decker NS118 blower and said it would be perfect for what I was looking for. I purchased it for $59 at a major home improvement store and have been pretty satisfied with it.

What I like best about it is that it's electric and cordless. The blower comes with an 18 volt battery and a charger that simply plugs into the wall to charge it. The entire blower only weighs 5 pounds so my wife and daughter can use it comfortably. I also like the fact that I don't have to purchase gasoline for it which is both convenient and great for the environment. The price is very inexpensive too.

Since it is light duty there are some cons to it as well. It does take three hours to charge it and only lasts 15-20 minutes tops per charge. That length of time is long enough for me to blow away the grass after I mow, but for people who have bigger jobs I would not recommend it. I have a .33 acre lot with a driveway, sidewalks, and a large back patio I have to blow off after I mow and the Black & Decker NS118 does the job well, but is not designed for non-paved surfaces. It is a blower only and does not suck up leaves.

I tried to use it in the winter time and it seemed to die even faster, which I believe is attributed to the cold weather where I live. Again, for people looking for a light duty grass and leaf blower for the paved surfaces around their home this blower is a good value and great for the family to use.
