I have to admit that I never would have bought this for myself. I've dreamed about it, but even though these Dyson machines look ed fantastic, I just couldn't bring myself to believe they were worth the price. I would say none of the vacuum cleaners I've owned in the last ten years has cost more than $120. On the other hand, I've owned three, so that says something, too.
My husband and children got me this vacuum cleaner when we bought our new house, which is carpet upstairs and hardwood downstairs. I was extremely excited and pleased, but I really didn't think it was going to be as good as it turned out to be.
The first thing that I noticed about this machine compared to any other, is that the attachments are so easy to use. You don't have to constantly switch things around in the middle of vacumming, or attach a hose. The telescoping wand is so easy to use.
It took me a little bit to get used to the ball motion. My first time out with this vaccum, I probably looked a little awkward. I certainly felt it. But, once I got used to the fact that I didn't need to maneuver it so much, it was wonderful. I can get all around table legs and chairs and corners without any extra effort.
Probably my favorite feature of this Ball is that I can go from the downstairs rooms that have hardwood to the tile in the kitchen and the carpet on the stairs without the suction changing at all. It's just as good on all three. Between not having to fiddle with attachments and not having to switch from one surface setting to another, I think I've probably cut my vacummung time in half. I love this machine.
