Some spontaneous and ischemic, but could also be triggered by stress, diet, sleep habits, drugs, dietary deficiency, etc.

See a doctor.
Could also be a thyroid issue. People with hyper-or-hypo-active thyroids often complain of not being able to think straight, as well as depression.

There have been some good points made here so far about things like diet, exercise, sleep, emotional issues, etc. Sometimes also we go through an experience like school and we are just not interested in certain subjects, and our concentration level in those things can be 'superficial' at best, especially when there is so much thrown our way.

I've often felt that education is something that's expected to take place at a time in our lives when we may not all be ready for it. Sometimes we are just not motivated to take it on and we need a break from it. Then maybe a different kind of experience, like working or travel or whatever, can rekindle the interest back and create the spark to 'want to do it.' There's an old saying, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."

Been that way my whole life...simple fix...Ritalin...and study the subject before the teacher "teaches it" you must have a syllabus. Just attack the problem before its a problem. Heck I even stop at Green lights...it drives my wife crazy.

When you find subjects you aren't familiar with, or want to learn more about, go to your school's library, find some books on the subjects, and read up! The best lesson I learned from college was to be proactive and learn about topics on my own. Do not rely on your professors spoon feeding you information because you will get much out of it. Enrich yourself and you will become more confident.
