I like to remove daily frustrations or irritating things from my life if possible. Little things.

Like I installed a wall phone in my bathroom. Nice to be sitting in the bathroom, the phone rings, and there is that phone right next to me!

And I am tall and raised the shower head up in the bathroom so I don't need to stoop down to wash my head. And raised the bath/shower valves up about 8 inches so I can easily reach them standing up. (If taking a bath, you can still reach them as well.)

Or I replace worn out old electric outlets with new ones. It is nice to be able to plug something in and not have to "giggle" the plug to get it to work. Frustrating to have to deal with something like that on a daily basis!

So lots of little things like that can make daily life a pleasure.

We have a blackbird here, the merlo, (Portugal) that has a lovely whistling song, and they are at their singing best early in the a.m. It is wonderful to wake up at six a.m. and the first thing I hear is the merlos singing.

I find it helps me a lot to find little things to be grateful for and to make a conscious effort to seek out and notice those little things. They are all around you, if you will only notice them.

I have a glass prism hanging in a window. The sun has moved to the right angle to cast little, round rainbows around the room. Yesterday, there was a rainbow in the bubbles of the dish washing water. My granddaughter saw it and put her hands under the bubbles and said, "Look, Grandma, I caught a rainbow." And thus a beautiful memory was made for me. For her, too, I hope.

Fresh, cold drink. Summer sun. Peace of mind.

Things I appreciate on a Sunday afternoon like today.

Oh, that reminds me. I haven't washed my sheets in over 3 months. Guess I'll be doing laundry this weekend.
