Why do people try to give you advice? ......because they figure if you're not 'FINE', maybe, just maaaaybe they have some advice to help you out. Who's being obnoxious? The people who pour out their troubles on others, then b*tch when the listener gives them advice or insight....that's who. If you don't want unsolicited advice, just say, "I'm fine, and you?".

Yeah. I agree the "sic" is sick, meaning in this case, incorrect.

I have a friend that is a therapist and when she tells me about something that
is bothering her she will say...I need to get something out, but I just want to vent.
"Can you just be a sounding board?"

What she means is Can you just listen? Then, I know to just be a friend....don't
offer any advice.
She knows everyone wants to advise and she is wise enough to say
what she is needing in the moment.

Yeah, I have a method that I use, that's something like that. I don't whine to people about my problems. I either talk to God or the dog about sh*t.

Yeah, there is a saying, "Phone Home, before picking up the phone."
