I used the term scanner to give it a general meaning. I am specially interested in Asperger and ADD.
Nope. The brain alterations that often lead to Asperger's Syndrome and Attention Deficit Disorder are far too subtle to be detected by any current technology.
No mental illness can currently be identified by imaging alone (by "brain scanner" I assume MRI). There might be some imaging - clinical correlations, but as far as making a diagnosis, no siree.
Even purely neurological diseases, like brain tumors and strokes, are often difficult to diagnose by imaging alone. Imaging can tell us lots of things, but to be certain, a brain tissue biopsy is still often necessary, if indicated.
