I initially thought this was a joke. Apparently it is not.

Each day, out-of-work computer programmer Luke Allen self-medicates by watching animated ponies have magical adventures.
The 32-year-old, who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, loves his daily fix of My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, and he’s not alone. He’s part of a growing group of “bronies” (“bro ponies”) — men who are fans of a TV show largely intended for a much younger audience.
I haven´t reached that level, but I love to watch mtv realities, like Paris BBF, From Gs to Gents, Made, True Life, etc...I am 35, I am not "supposed" to watch that stuff...but hey, man has to watch what a man has to watch.
And if some day I feel the show in particular was too silly, I just compensate by getting an extra dose of porn.
I mean, really, how can full grown men be this way? And the guy isn't even embarrassed apparently to have his name and photo published.
Meh. He's not shooting heroin. He's not gambling the mortgage payment away in Atlantic City. He's not stalking people. He's not stocking up on arms for a violent revolution. He's a nerd like many others, and his thing happens to be My Little Pony. As nerdy obsessions go, it sounds pretty harmless; certainly no worse than Trekkies or Browncoats or larpers. He likes what he likes. Good for him.
yeah, i've heard of these people. i even tried to watch the show once. i had to get high first, but i gave it a chance. i couldn't get past the first five minutes. these "brony" people are also annoying, trolling on other sites asking out of nowhere "who is best pony?". seriously? get a job or another hobby.
Drive by a first day showing of a Star Wars / Star Trek type movie at a movie theater and you will see grown men dressed up in costumes like they wear in those movies. And they will sometimes start waiting in line the day before the movie opens so they will be the first to see the movie.
Some computer types do not relate to real life people very well. Also those in Hollywood who write fantasy movies are not exactly interested in the real world either. So maybe a relationship made in heaven for both types?
And perhaps this is why new versions of computer software will be designed and changed with apparently no consideration for the people who use these things daily for their work?

<shrug> Drive by a sports stadion before a major game and you'll see grown men and women dressing up, painting their faces, the works. People find any number of ways to live vicariously.
I think it's campy. One guy I know who is 26 does this to some extent because he and his gf are into the whole anime/cosplay thing and she like MLP a lot. I remember about 10 years ago when there was a trend for college guys to watch Golden Girls too. This stuff comes and goes.

I'm 41 and have a comp sci degree. I like the original Star Trek series, and even recently downloaded a Star Trek communicator ring tone. Furthermore, backyard astronomy is another "nerd" hobby of mine. HOWEVER, watching a little pony cartoon show made for preteen girls as not even in my galaxy, no pun intended. It's not a nerd thing this guy's involved with, it's just plain creepy and outright bizarre.
