We have read tonight here from some of our lonely male posters that if it gets really bad and they cannot find a woman to have sex with or to love them, that men who are unsuccessful in dating will ultimately sleep with men instead.
How true is this? What would it take for a lonely straight (and non-incarcerated) man to seek sex from another man?
When I worked as a male massage therapist, giving happy endings, I had a number of purely straight men come to me for the massage and happy ending, and they had no attraction whatsoever to a male body, wouldn't even touch my body. All they wanted to do is be serviced! It was no threat to their sexual identity whatsoever!
If you're fearful of trying this type of experiment, then it may be your sexual identity is built on shaky ground!

The fact is that the majority of people aren't 100% straight or gay but somewhere in the middle. As we grow up in a heteronormative society, we learn to repress or ignore (or despise) our homosexual inclinations and nurture our hetero attractions. It's like walking down the street, and if you're straight, you only notice the Chevrolet's parked along the curb, and if you're bisexual, you also notice the BMW's. And you could jump into either one for a ride!
I once knew an extremely "healthy" bisexual woman, where it would be totally arbitrary to her, if she were out some night, and she walked into a Lesbian or Straight bar. She'd have pleasures either way!
You can think you're straight for decades without realizing you have some amount of a same-sex attraction. It's possible to have enough of one to be able to enjoy having sex with other men, but still have more of an attraction to women. I'd wager a good 20% of the population are in that position.
I'd say it's more like 90% of the population. Depends on the situation.
Imagine a crewcut former title-holding bodybuilder, with an ultra-manly and absolutely perfect face, a spectacular body, and an impossibly huge organ, was making himself available to you (by 'you', I mean guys in-general). We're talking about the male equivalent of the most gorgeous girl you've ever seen - one of those people so beyond perfect it's hard to believe they actually exist.
He's into being admired, and so the fact that you're vastly inferior, physically, is not important to him. He's an exhibitionist who gets thrills from having other men be thrilled by him.
This is not hypothetical. I know a guy like that. He's let me see him naked, and gotten pretty excited by the admiration, even if I am a girl. Yey! I like to look. He likes to show. But he likes showing-off for guys even more. And he lets them handle the merchandise. He's attractive enough that he can flip a switch lying dormant in straight guys. Here he is: the absolute epitome of masculine perfection. Suddenly, you're excited in a way that you've never been, before. And he's excited by your excitement, and actually available to you for a little safe hanky-panky. You're going to pass up horsing-around with something like that?

Brett Favre? Really? You've seen that lockerroom photo of a young Brett in a jockstrap. With him looking like that, you'd pass up the chance? It's one of those moments when something too-good-to-be-true can actually come true.

Everything I've read suggests that this would be VASTLY easier for women to do than for men.
No wonder. It's more socially acceptable for females to do it. And with porn I think you will find women get a lot less offended watching two naked women get it on than when guys watch two naked men get it on.

In my 64 years, I can't ever recall a woman loudly, passionately, angrily referring to a lesbian in a negative, denigrating, hateful way, only the men do I hear that from!
