As a nurse, I prefer to die in my home however I wouldn't want to place that burden on my surviving family, so I would die in a hospital, but only after being there for a short period of time, preferably when I am 128 years old
My mom passed in her sleep after she made herself an egg at 5 am...
Bec the night before her tummy was queasy so she didn't have supper.
Way to go MOM!!!
Only thing was I didn't know she wasn't just sleeping late for hours!
(They stay warm for a VERY long time!)
Way...to....go!
I was once in the audience of a panel discussion of famous writers. The moderator asked George Plimpton, a founder of the Paris Review and a popular journalist, how he preferred to die. Without hesitation he replied, "In the arms of Lee Remick."
For those of you too young to know, this was Lee Remick: Lee Remick - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
She never had the chance to comfort Mr. Plimpton. She died of cancer when she was only 55. He died 12 years later but he didn't need a beautiful and talented actress comforting him. He keeled over of a sudden heart attack.
If I have a say in the matter of where I would want to die it would be at home listening to some good music and hopefully pain free with my kids and dog beside me.
Location: Central Bay Area, CA as of Jan 2010...but still a proud Texan from Houston!
