I guess congrats but it would have far nicer if the events in Santa Monica had never happened.

Here's the post on Current Events forum which just broke all the records too.

What does this say about us as a society? What does this say about some members of CD? Why are we fascinated by dogs who would chew us up, men who would shoot us?

Take a look at the some of the threads on either forum which never drew more than a couple of replies.

In addition to those two threads, in general the P&C forum has BY FAR the most posts and longest threads.

I'd assume that all this means is that people have strong opinions about certain things.

And certain threads in certain forums sometimes take off...and sometimes threads go on for too long. It's very possible that both threads should have been locked, moved or merged from their respective forums.

---

Also the Elliot Rodger thread is ALL over the place. There is no set topic. In there you have mental illness, bullying, entitlement, youth, gun control, PUA, video games and other topics all in attempt to make sense of this behavior.

I'm sure the Pit Bull story was the same thing.

---

I don't see an issue or anything really that needs to be solved? Controversial topics are controversial. Go to any forum here and you'll see the top posted threads are either "What did you do today threads" or "Some controversial topic."

If anything it would be more interesting to look at the forum as a whole and to see, how much cross-posting is going on, and what ALL of the top posts say; It would say people like to argue, and share what they are doing.
