I definitely relate. I have this more and more the older I get. The regret, along with loneliness, will eventually kill me I think.

Grow up.

Rumination. "the focused attention on the symptoms of one's distress, and on its possible causes and consequences, as opposed to its solutions."

You Grow Up, Dwatted Wabbit!

To the OP and anyone else in this situation,
Everyone has a regret so you are not alone. Find one thing that you enjoy and do it everyday to drag yourself forward and build on it. I go to the beach or book store.

Depression from regret/pain with not having a clue how to replace the regret with some other achievement.

You'll have to force yourself to think about other things. Helping others is a great way to stop thinking about yourself.

Today is tomorrows past.
Do it today.
If you can't, you are frozen by fear.
Fear says something about your failure to deal with your mortality.
obsession is how fear traps you from moving forward.

When the pain of where you are overcomes the fear of where you must go, then you'll do something.
Not until. You will not do anything until it hurts enough.

Procrastination is a form of defiance.
God always opens a door when He closes another, but it gets cold as a ***** out in the hallway,
thats where you are.

Rumination, highly intrusive perseverative thoughts, etc. are symptoms of a number of diagnoses.
