My father was an alcoholic as long as I can remember. I'm mid 40's and never knew him when he didn't drink.
He would drink every single day. Beer and sometimes liquor. Liquor was ugly. He also smoked every day.
Years ago, probably in his late 50's early 60's, someone bet him like $100 that he couldn't stop drinking for 30 days. He quit, cold turkey then after collecting, he resumed drinking as he always had.
He did the same thing with smoking on a bet.
How could he do this?
It was quite amazing to witness. It's almost as if he only drank and smoked because he chose to.
I see there is an EXTENSIVE thread that may or may not hit on this same subject but I don't really have much interest in wading through a year old thread with hundreds of posts.
