Let's call this person User A. He sometimes posts on this forum, and for the most part he seems like a pleasant (and mostly honest) guy. A few weeks ago, I discovered that he also posts on another online forum. I know it's the same person because he once posted a picture there that he just so happened to post here as well. However, on that forum, he has lied about himself. He tells a different story about where he lives (city/state), where he works, etc compared to what he's told here. He has also told an occasional lie here too (he sometimes can't keep his stories straight).

Also, I recently interacted with a new user here who created a new thread. Let's call this guy User B. For some reason, I got the feeling that User B is actually User A posting under a different identity. There was something about the way that he worded his posts that reminded me a lot of User A.

So I wonder, the fact that I've seen User A lie about himself on another forum and the possibility that he might have created a fake account here, could that be an indication that he's a compulsive liar?

I think the more salient question is why are you spending time and energy dealing with someone you clearly don't trust.

I know that it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, as I only know this person online. But I can't help but wonder if my suspicion about him is correct.

If it bothers you, don't interact with him.
