** I was undecided on which area to post this in, Mods please move if not correct and advise me**
Hello,
I have accepted a new position at another company and will be wrapping up my time with my current employer this week. As word gets out, more and more people question their own role at this company and their satisfaction (or lack there of) and approach me "I hear you're leaving...where to?" When I do tell them, inevitably the next question is always "oh wow...are they [still] hiring?"
Has this happened to you? To be perfectly honest, the last few times I've switched jobs was to move across the country, but since I am sticking around, they tend to ask.
I simply tell them to go to the corporate website and browse their careers. They now see my as an "in", although, to be frank, some people I would NOT recommend to my new company. I didn't like working with them at my old company, let alone recommend them to my new one.
People have even asked about pay.. That's pretty personal. I just told them "I'm making more there". They don't know what I make at the old company.
I could understand if it was just one or two people asking, but it seems everyone I tell is asking. How do I best approach this? Has anyone been in this same situation?
