My friends really likes when people ask if we are sisters but I hate it. We have the same hair and eye color but that's it. Her eyes are small, mine are big. Her lips are very very full and mine are medium. My hair is long and thick, hers is shorter and thinner. Our faces are a completely different shape also. Hers is long and potato shaped and mine is small. Completely different body type as well. I just don't get it! People mistake me for her sometimes. What causes people to think we look a like? and why does it bother me so much yet makes her so happy. She always tells people we look a like also.

I don't know. I have had a friend for over 30 years and that has happened to us. People think we look like sisters. I am of Dutch and English descent and she is Cuban and Italian so we aren't even remotely related. It's ok though. It just amuses us.

Maybe you always secretly thought she was the less attractive one, and it bugs you that people are lumping you together.

I think this happens because good friends tend to dress alike and may imitate the mannerisms and facial expressions of each other. They may do this unintentionally. If a person likes another person they tend to instinctively imitate that person. This happens with couples who have been together for a long time. They start to look alike.
