Is it your opinion that everyone wishes that they were dead every once in awhile?

When you indulge in too much alcohol and wind up driving the "Great Porcelain Bus" (the commode), you are extremely likely to wish you would die right there and vow to never do it again.

Until next time

These are two different questions and entirely different subject matters.

"Normal" in who's eyes?

If were to ask me if there is anything wrong with wanting to die sometimes my answer is no.

But you are asking someone who feels life is overrated.

"Everyone?" - No.

It doesn't appear I can participate in this poll...

I don't really agree with the premise of the question. Life might seem to tough to want to go on living. But wanting to die? As in, "I really want to pass away, be embalmed, and feel my life energy disappearing into microscopic heat particles"? No, not common, not healthy.

The fact is we all die. It's normal to think about death. We're all just waiting for our time. Personally I dread dying but sometimes wish it were over not because I want to die but because I know I must and I'm afraid of the dying part. Will it be in fiery accident? Will I die peacefully in my sleep? Will I suffer months of pain before finally giving up? I find the idea that I have to die scary and I think it's normal to sometimes wish things we dread were just over. That doesn't mean you want them to happen or that you want the changes they will bring. It just means you dread them and would like to stop dreading them.

Samuel Goldwyn said it best: "If I could drop dead right now, I'd be the happiest man alive."

I think it is normal, yes.
What is not normal is understanding this urge.

This place is hard...it is nothing like where we just came from.
It is normal to want to return Home and get outta 'this place'.

The trick is ...to figure out how 'this place' works.
Then, one realizes, 'here/there' makes no difference both are great!
And it's the same formula wherever you are in the Universe.

Gotta learn the System, the Formula, the Secret that is not secret!

sort of...I think usually we just want to avoid pain or something scary, not necessarily have life no more. It is just easier to think 'dead' instead of 'I wish my life were not this' (at the moment).

Dead is really forever. Not sure people really process that when they have these death wishes.

Although I voted "no" I don't think it is unhealthy or sick. I think many people have those feelings.

The reason I voted "no" is merely because most of us have an instinct for survival. I am not judgmental; feeling you might want to die is not necessarily ... only attempting it becomes problematic.
