A friend was telling me a story this morning about the auto mechanic where she takes her car.

He said the 70+ generation love to chat and talk about this and that.

The 50+ generation are friendly but cool too.

The 20+ generation say, how soon will it be done and how much. Then go back to their ipads and that's it.

I'm friendly and polite, but I didn't realize that waiting for an oil change obligated me to perform for others. I'm there to drink bad coffee and read old magazines until my car is ready.

Jaminhealth, do you mean the Los Angeles Times (LA Times) or the New York Times?
I'm assuming you mean the LA Times since you live in Santa Monica?

If a mechanic in CA said it then it MUST be true.
Blondes have more fun too.

Yeah, not to mention, that the staff have to do their jobs. They're not getting paid to chat with customers. That's why there's usually a separate waiting area from the staff, hint, hint.

Again with this BS?

First off, going to a mechanic is not a social event.

Second, there are plenty of friendly chit chatty types in the 20+ crowd.

Next.

Oh, I can say this about people living in our apt bldg too. Three tenants just moved out and two tenants never said boo to me, the third one say hi while passing in a hurry.

Then there are the young ones strolling across the street on their ipads, talking on phones, plugs in ears....grrrrrrrrrrrr If one gets hit then it's your fault.

I see this with my grandkids 17 and 20. No time for gram. And if and when we're together the ipads are like fungus in their hands.

Just saying as I see it.

I'm talking about today's times, not the newspapers.
