The OP took sides in the very first post in the thread. It was a political thread from the beginning.

I knew the risk when I opened this thread but I have to point out what I see on C-D. If you or some others see something different on here that's fine.

I have observed in the real world it is a different story.

I don't think it is a right, nor left issue. It is a people/politics issue.
It depends on the subject. A debate about healthcare or immigration posted in another section I expect to be political.

But the three examples I posted earlier in this thread were not political threads and some posters tried to swing in that direction. You would have to have your mind constantly occupied with politics to turn those threads into a political battleground.

I think most people regardless of political leanings don't want everything in society to be a political war zone between right and left regardless of who is responsible. Some things can be discuss without the liberal vs. conservative paradigm.

Maybe I'll just start putting these here when I see them. As a bonus you're even involved in this one.

I do agree that there was no reason to bring up politics but millennial bashing threads are always political. If you've been in enough of them you'll see what I'm talking about. The generally conservative older generation constantly wonders why the the more liberal younger generation isn't like them

That thread hadn't gotten political until the post I linked to which was on around page 9 or 10 I believe.

And like I said there was no reason to bring politics into the discussion. So I do not condone that post nor did I rep it.

But with these generation threads often come down to a clash of values.

Honest answer. It is because people like to be passionate and angry about things. Like the angst a teenager feels. They like to feel they have been wronged. They are victims.

Politics is often a popular topic where people can show off their knowledge, their point of view, their hot blooded passions and anger and emotions. Gives them a sense of purpose i guess, to fill in the emptiness and to cover the mundane every day existence.

That's all there is to it. Also the reason why people post on their facebook pages what they post.

In real life it seems to come from both liberals and conservatives

I didn't post this in the P&OC threads because I want to know what's the mindset these folks and their obsession political arena. Do they drag their political grievances everywhere with them in real life as well?

Would anyone enjoy having a conversation with someone who turns everything into a political tirade?

I very rarely discuss politics because more often than not emotions take over and rational discussion goes out the window. I'll go out of my way to avoid them. Besides, what's the point? Neither side is likely to win over the other.
