I can’t stand it. It affects me psychologically. It makes me angry. I get over it though. Rant over. Lol
I think they can't hear. My ex-husband can't, anyway. It's so weird. Drove me crazy. But if he didn't have it on speaker, he literally couldn't hear me.
Or they just have a hard time hearing their phone when it isn’t on speaker.
That's me. I'm hard of hearing. If the call is not on speakerphone, I can barely hear the caller. However I would never use the speakerphone in a quiet, enclosed space like a restaurant where the noise would bother people. Also, if I do use speakerphone, I keep the calls as brief and businesslike as possible. No chatting.
These people should be killed. Of course I am not literal. It just came to my mind a friend who cracks me up with all the kinds of people who just need to be killed (in jest). If he was in this thread, these people would go on his list! There is just no rehabilitation for certain people with such egregious behavior!

I have a fake legal document called "Order To Destroy Worthless Person." Some joker posted it on the employee bulletin board at work. It made me laugh so hard, I made a copy of it for myself.
While shopping for food for Thanksgiving, I had the misfortune of being near another shopper who was, apparently, talking to her sister about what to purchace for TG. At first she loudly asked "Tell me where the spices are"
Simultaneously I and another shopper answered "The next aisle". She impatiently waved us away and said in a loud voice "I AM TALKING TO SOMEONE".
This loud conversation continued for an hour, while I heard the details of seating, foods, family business, who was picking whom up at what airport, and more requests for supermarket directions.
I tried avoid her but I kept running into her and her loud voice.

Thank you! You are obviously a pleasant exception to the rule!
Speaker phone? Its the one with the clip on ear cell phones that get me. Walking around in the grocery store I can't tell if they are talking to themselves schizophrenic or not.
I think people like that are screaming for attention, or to show how important they think they are.
Agreed. Go hold your personal conversation in private! No one wants to hear that. You look like an idiot.
