I don't want to. And I'm not bipolar. I've got some seriously bad anxiety and pretty severe ADD. The nailbiting is a self-soothing thing that I am constantly trying to get under control.

You know when I stopped biting my nails? When I went on a 2-week trip to Ireland and Wales with my best friends. I didn't stress about anything. And my nails grew out beautifully. As soon as I got home and went back to work, I started gnawing on them all over again.

I don't think it's a bipolar thing either. It's a nervous habit. My brother chews his fingernails down to the quick. I smoke, and bite the inside of my mouth. My younger sister tears up paper into little tiny pieces.

Like someone else said, it's a self soothing kind of thing.
