Yeah but then I keep regretting not doing it when I put it off, so if I don't how do I get rid of all that regret? The therapist said I get rid of it by making the movie, so I don't know.
Until you make a film, you're not a filmmaker. You're just a person with an idea, like so many others.
Yeah but then my money is gone to make the movie if I buy a house. Plus I don't think I need to establish my own life to know if I want to make a movie or not. I want to make the movie, either way.
Sorry I should have specified. I was going to buy a house but not sure if I should or make the movie. I meant I'm at risk of losing the house, sorry for explaining it poorly.
Who cares what anyone else has to say about it? You want to do something you will enjoy, then you should do it. The people telling you not to do something, they have no significant accomplishments in their lives and don't want to see you succeed. Makes them feel more comfortable telling you not to do something they don't have the drive, talent and resources to accomplish.
At what point in your life are you going to stop asking permission from others to be happy? I've done many such projects, and I never asked anyone's opinion if I should do them, I just got to work on them. You should do the same.

You can do both. Get investors, partners, etc.
