I have an alcohol problem. The last time I drank was 5 days ago. I got drunk 5 days ago. 3 people wanted to beat me up but I dont remember what happened. They were threating me to beat me up good. I started running and went inside a cafe nearby and told them to call the police. I was safe after that.

One day I will get beaten up pretty bad when drunk. There have been times I haven't drunk for as long as 2-3 months. Then I drank again. I dont remember some parts of the day when I drink.

Is there anybody who has a problem with alcohol?

Lots of people do. There is one simple solution: Stop drinking for the rest of your life.

I do not believe in ALcoholics Anonymous. I believe everybody can discipline themselves. It is esy to get addicted and everyone has that capability. A person can also stop. Ste boundaries. Say well i'll drink 6 beers and a shot and go home. If you do that you'll be fine.

99.9999% of addiction specialists would disagree with this approach. With alcoholics, it's all or nothing.

I suggest you make a copy of what you just wrote, especially what I bolded.
Since it's apparent you can't handle moderation I suggest you read it the next time you want a drink.

Sounds like you blacked out due to alcohol poisoning and may have come close to death. I suggest you think about that. Is alcohol worth it?

The last time I was drunk was in 1998 and that was an accident. I think there was something in that draft dark beer I had. I suspect caffeine which I cannot handle.
No more and never again. Haven't touched the hard stuff in more than 3 decades. I only have an occasional beer and it's been that way for many years.

Wow just WOW!! So easy for non-alcoholics to say. Just stop....that's all there is to it. This is some serious narcissistic nonsense right here how dare you just totally ignore the fact that alcoholism is a disease, it can't be brushed off like smoking cigarettes or setting a limit for yourself. Seriously? I'm astounded at the....well....lack of knowledge of how alcoholism works. You're right LC, AA doesn't work for everyone so screw it altogether, right? You don't believe in it, therefore it should not exist? I'm speechless ya'll

Just stop:
It's the only solution.
It works 100% of the time.
Everything else fails 100% of the time.
The only definition of success is 100% abstinence.
There are no other alternatives.
If you want to stop, you'll stop.
If you don't stop, it's because you don't want to.

A good book is "The Naked Mind" by Annie Grace.

Almost everyone in my family is an alcoholic. It makes me sad. I'm the only person who doesn't drink. Never been drunk before.

I'v had spats with family, but I try not to pass judgement, as I (with limitations) try to understand the disease.

All I can do is invite them over and then not have alcohol. I have family members who enjoy staying a few days at my house, as nobody drinks when they do. They tell me the culture at my home is just so devoid of alcohol, that for a brief couple of days, they are no longer alcoholics. I don't force anyone to stop drinking. If they buy a drink, they can drink without judgement.

But I tend to coordinate activities that move things along without the thought.

Anyway, weird rant.

I've always believed that the best way to fight alcohol is to replace it with something. I don't know what or how. But just quitting by itself is out of the question, considering, that doing so leaves a hole that is itching to be refilled. So fill the hole with something else.

I don't know. I could be wrong.

Melancholy subject.
