I don't want the U.S. to turn into a European beach and let it all hang out. We have areas and Festivals for that.
The Pride Parades are too flashy, I have gay friends that feel the same.
Work place should be up to the employer.
I don't like too much from anybody. Just be respectful.
I love European beaches. Those old fat guys in their Speedos! Totally unselfconscious. Everyone old or young, fat or thin, is out there enjoying the beach in a minimum of beachwear.
It's great to see a place without our American hangups!
Have you seen what passes for women's formal wear? Some of those outfits would be embarrassing at a dog fight. I have actually heard an ET commentator criticizing a woman who won an award for not showing enough skin.
There are appropriate venues for partial nudity. A beach or swimming pool is appropriate for almost no clothes. Cruising for Mr. Goodbar is appropriate for more sexualized clothing. Most women are sexier if they get some help from the togs. Work is not a place to be flashing thigh.
It is not repressive to teach women how to use clothes. If they are clueless, someone needs to take them in hand and explain the facts of life.
I am quite amazed that people have such a variety of what is appropriate. Isnt this the age of "judge not, lest you be judged"
I’m amazed you are amazed, because judging is rampant in this forum - lol. The bottom line - there are dress codes for the workplace (which most are professional enough to follow). As far as anywhere beyond a professional environment (or a funeral, etc), however, why is this even a concern?
If as many people got involved with world hunger - as those who want to shame young women for wearing a ‘barely there’ bikini on the beach or an obnoxiously (nice) long slit up the side of a formal dress - we would solve it.

It's been hinted at, too, that sometimes young people in their first internships or jobs need to be taught that there's a difference between getting dressed up to go out vs. getting dressed up for work. They might not know that their "good" clothes aren't good for every occasion.
