There are so many Internet trolls. One starts a hate thread and others just follow because they are bored, or stupid, underage, uninformed or just feed each other, or... who knows...? Hard to understand that mentality... Like I said - they live in a fantasy world where everything is allowed. Most of them would never say anything they wrote to someone in person.

I feel like I am...and am not...like this. Like I don't follow the Kardashians at all, and don't tend to jump on whatever the hottest, latest, person is, tabloids are disgusting to me, and there's a certain element of celebrity worship that I find repulsive.

I've watched plenty of movies, whether films I've chosen or the ones other people I was keeping company with wanted to see. There are some actors whose work I admire, I find it of artistic merit, and I want to support their careers. Just like with makers of visual art, musicians, writers, and so on. There are people who bring a fascinating kind of creativity to the roles they play. I've recently become interested in Tilda Swinton's work, for instance. I mean to intentionally get and watch more of her movies that I've passed by before. Then there are some, who get a reputation for being fun, quirky, and personable...like Jeff Goldblum. He's adorkable! The jazz piano thing, the sense of style... It does help, that he has played the archetype I like best in many movies...the nerdy guy who has some improbable (but totally right) scientific gibberish answer to everything. Yes, I love me some Spock. And I will forever regret that I never got to meet Leonard Nimoy before he passed.

But the ones I "hate"...well, one thing I tend to dislike a lot, are the actors who have a particular personal shtick, and they splatter it all over every role they take, and then...ohhh...then... Someone gets the horrible idea to remake one of my childhood favorite films, only to add the zany stylings of Johnny Depp or Jim Carrey to it. COULD YOU JUST PLEASE NOT. I could say it's not their fault, it wasn't necessarily their decision, maybe it was simply a role they were offered, a job they accepted...but they bring this same repetitive, caricature like behavior to it. It makes me grumpy. Do not like.

Fortunately so far, it hasn't been my like...FAVORITE, favorite childhood movies. If they ever decide to do "Labyrinth 2: with Ace Ventura, Pet Detective as the Goblin King!" I may completely lose my mind.

The jealousy bit...it exists though, for me. It isn't that I truly wish I were a celebrity. It's the fact that my boyfriend LOVES these famous women. I've had to sit there like chopped liver many a time when he regaled someone with the story of how, at a convention once, Morena Baccarin touched him ~RIGHT THERE~ on this particular spot on one shoulder. There was a minor actress who only is in geeky, B-list (or lower) sci fi and fantasy fiction, and my boyfriend is a huge fan. Why? Because she's HOT...and she's a NERD! So exciting! I actually don't think she is that hot. I mean she isn't hideous. But I told him, if she'd never made a video or been in a show, and she was just walking around some convention, like the many other women, you wouldn't get whiplash staring at her. Famous people are not made of better stuff than he or I. It bums me out that fantasy can be more exciting than reality (which is the category where I live) for him sometimes. *shrug*

"My question for everyone.....what causes it?"

in my opinion, the old 80/20 rule.
80% is they are "that way" (genetics)
20% they like it "that way" (environment/experience)
