I am an introvert but take every chance I have to travel. There are so many things I want to see, but yes, for places I know I don't want to go, or won't get to, photos, videos and Google Street view are great. Being there in person can't be replicated. The 360 view around you, the sounds, smells, all of that forms the travel experience. Sitting at home isn't the same.
And it sounds like yet another instance where someone mistakes introversion for misanthropy.

You may have a point. I dont really hate humankind I just dont like to absorb other people's energy so I go everywhere by myself and avoid social anything.Thats is the 1st time I have ever heard the word misanthropy.
The geek shall inherit the earth...or some version of it. The real world isn't waiting for you all to step away from the keyboard. I think one can almost live a make believe extroverted life and never leave home. Some people live on this and other forums.
...and apparently not much of a difference at the moment because apparently, some 5G networks are so weak that some 4G LTE networks outperform it. Just what I'm hearing. Don't know what the real deal is.
I just take it as the need to grow and develop the network so that it can actually be a lot better. So it'll probably be a couple of years before 5G reaches is peak. It would be a nice thing to enjoy as an introvert. But then at the same time, I'll still find the time to get out.
I think we need to clarify terms. Introverts like to be alone to recharge their batteries, and extroverts like to socialize to unwind.
I spent 4 days with family and at a party of 65 people. I needed three days alone.

Yeah, it's about how or where we get our energy.
I've always heard it this way; extroverts get their energy from other people while introverts get their energy from within.
I can be the life of the party and I have been the life of the party. My type of humor makes it easy for me. But after the fact, I may need some time alone. That's when my inner-Oscar comes out.
mistaking porn for a love life.
They are different versions of the same lie.
And so are the two things mentioned above.
It's silly to say that the real world consists of getting in your two ton machine and rolling down a concrete ribbon to an airport where you get into a kerosene filled aluminum tube and fly to somewhere else which is created by and powered by oil...and then eventually get to your lodging and then take a tour of ancient churches or whatever.
Maybe there is a tad of real world in backpacking in the wilderness.....
In a sense everything is virtual....and everything is real. But to say using up vastly more dinosaur juice (unsustainable by ANY measure) to "find reality" is better than a good meal cooked at home is folly, IMHO....and I've been to a lot of places.
It's really more a matter of how one is driven. I have friends who are ALWAYS social...24/7/365. They hold season tickets to everything.
I'm the opposite. A day I don't get in the car is the best day I can imagine.
OTOH, the friend I mentioned was in sales while I created businesses from scratch, wrote books, created popular web magazines, obtained patents, volunteered and did other "introvert" things.
To each his own.....but basic math will suggest that not every person in the world can see everywhere in the world. It's much better for all involved for you NOT to go to Easter Island.
A recent article showed that 50K people live in DT Amsterdam while 25 MILLION visit it each year. That figure is repeated for a lot of European places....and those are places I have zero desire to go because they already are not what I wanted to see....tourists!
Tech offers a greater range of experience for everybody. Most of us aren't going to visit all of the world's interesting places in person. YouTube videos allow us to see those places virtually. We need to keep in mind that we're seeing the vision that the video maker chose to present, but we can usually still do some virtual sightseeing and get the place's general vibe.
