Someone in another thread said, "I wish someone would write a paper on this."
Oh, trust me. DOZENS of books are being written on this corona issue from every angle you can think of. And some you'd never thought of. From macro and micro economics, personal finance, stock market, retail, food production, supply chains, specific industries, geopolitics, U.S., state and local politics, medical, scientific, healthcare, mental health, psychological, sociological, leadership, social media, group think and 50 different angles on each one of those.
Humans amaze me. Hang on I'm about to be judgmental here....
I wonder what percentage of Americans have any real coping, critical thinking skills anymore.
-- Some are saying they'll have PTSD from staying inside. Really? IMO, that's an insult to people who've had REAL trauma.
-- Some are acting like it'd be the end of the world if they couldn't get their usual groceries. Like it's some real inconvenience to have to buy fish instead of chicken. OR not even be able to get rice for a week. A family friend who's obese and has a compromised immune system, wanted my brother to make a special trip to the store so she could have chocolate covered pretzel crisps? Really? Risk corona for frigging pretzel crisps?
I really than G-d for the minority of people who have survival, critical thinking and common sense skills. THEY will be the ones who save the rest of us.
Because many younger people and a whole lot of older ones, too, have no perception of what REAL lack is. They've been so pampered, so protected, so privileged they think not having an in-person college graduation or not having a prom this year is some paralyzing event.
We thought there were plenty of "snowflakes" before this. Now I see it's NOT just young people who whine and can't handle adversity. Look at world history people!
Thank G-d for people with perspective -- who suck it up, step up, do what needs to be done and move on?!
