because your homemade mask out of underwear or old socks that you wear all day long for days and touch a bazillion times with contaminated hands thinking it is safe - doesn't do sh..t to prevent anything.
False sense of security. Your mask is probably the most dirty item in your household that should not be anywhere near your face. How often did you touch it and take it off and had it lay somewhere?
Your post is astonishing. We wear masks when we go out, as does everyone else in our area. Between us two, we probably have twenty masks. I wash them every time they are worn. They are air dried after washing, and put into a drawer, away from dust. I do not attempt to keep them sterile, but they are clean.
When we go out, we are masked and we do distancing. When we do grocery shopping, where we push carts and handle items, we wear disposable gloves.
The only time we go out unmasked is when we walk in our local park.
Our masks are not dirty, thank you very much. And you are making unwarranted assumptions about what others do.
It is not a lie nor a conspiracy - the CDC did say 6% of deaths, 9,000something, were from COVID ... however, one cannot ignore the entire report.
The CDC creates its statistics from death certificates and what is written in the "cause of death" box. 6% list only COVID - that is a fact. The other 94% of death certificates list other conditions along with listing COVID. The unfortunate part, which makes all numbers somewhat useless, is that some of the comorbidities were worsened by COVID and thus death occurred, but some comorbidities would have caused death with or without COVID present; however, because the patient tested positive before or after death, even if no COVID symptoms were present, COVID is added to the "cause of death" box even if it had nothing to do with the death.
Thus in this 94% you find asthma sufferers who would be alive today had they not contracted COVID, but also in this 94% you will find car accident victims who died from those injuries, and because they just happened to test positive, COVID is listed in the "cause of death" box, too. The CDC can only report statistics based upon the data they are given.
The doctor or medical examiner who declares the date and time of death and signs a death certificate may or may not have a monetary incentive to add COVID to the cause of death. Because Medicare does not have a specific code for COVID, and payments to healthcare facilities to treat a patient falls under a basic pulmonary code paying out $13,000something, the CARES Act in April created a 20% add on if a patient is being treated for COVID. It is impossible for anyone to know if a healthcare facility purposely inflates its numbers or not.

I am not making assumptions. Go outside and watch people. How they pull down the mask every time they speak. And touch it.
There is a college nearby and a store next to it. 7 Students wanting to go into the store, only one has a mask with them. Guess what they did. Yes. They took turns wearing the mask to enter the store.
“That’s what I see all the time,” Griffin said, NPR reported. “That’s why in the studies, masks fail — people don’t use them (correctly). They touch the front of it. They adjust it. They push it down somehow to get their nose stuck out.”
HOW DO I PROPERLY TAKE A FACE MASK OFF?
Don’t touch the front of the mask, WHO advises. Instead, take the mask off by untying or pulling off the straps around your ears. Keep it away from your face.
And be sure not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth while taking off the mask, says the CDC.

The college kids were not interested in being safe. I cannot control others. We try to be safe. But it is useless to try and get normal people to adhere to strict standards regarding their masks. It is hard enough to get them to mask up at all.
If you are interested in being safe, you will mask up, distance, and practice good hand hygiene. If you aren’t interested in being safe, you won’t.
How is it any more of an infringement of rights than requiring shirt and shoes..
My opinion, masks are more infringing because they can impede breathing, cause labored & conscious breathing.. Wearing a shirt doesn't (usually) get in the way of vital functions.. Also I think there's a greater natural repulsion against covering your mouth & face vs. your torso, but who knows..
I also think breathing freely is viewed as more of a natural 'right' than walking barefoot thru a mall. Peace
Selfish arrogant ignorant people don't wear masks.
Masks are just like stop signs, they are to protect everybody, just like two cars meeting at a corner.
A person doesn't have the liberty to refuse a stop sign, neither should they have the liberty to refuse to wear a mask, it's simple as that.
We all abide by "socialist" policies for the good of society and humanity. Those who argue about it "It's a free country!" garbage spewn out of their mouths need to take a closer look. None of us are "free" to do whatever we want. One arrogant woman yelled this in a grocery store which clearly had a very large sign on the door "Masks required". It is not her grocery store, she is obligated to play by the rules of the grocery store just like everybody else. She is NOT special.
The situation is temporary, maybe another year of this to protect us all. Whiners about wearing a mask should whine at home, I don't want to hear it, and I don't want them breaking the law for their entitled attitude while they put others at risk.

Nope. People who are scared of the flu with less than 1% mortality rate should stay home. You are the one who is scared and you are demanding the world to change to keep you safe. You are the selfish one

Well...gee. That could be your opinion, but you don't get to have your own facts.
Facts are: Masks are required where they are required. That's the current law of the land, or the owner of the grocery store, or what have you.
Your 1% numbers are askew, but that's another argument entirely.
So I'm selfish? Ha. Apparently so are 99% of the countries of the world currently requiring masks. Is everybody selfish the world over? Or are they educated on the true nature of this virus? How come you're on the out with science, yet I, and the governments of almost the entire world, are in agreement? We're all selfish? It's a bit much to take on most of the entire world, but go ahead.

I know. People refuse to believe the whole world is masking. LALALALAL head in the sand.
I live in Ecuador and even the poor are masked, even outside (if near others). They understand and want to protect their elders and themselves.
I was just in Europe, same thing. No one is throwing a fit.
That and distancing/hand-washing is all we've got to fight this thing. Why not do it? Geez. Grow up.
