When I look back at life — it seems like it hasn’t really been that long since I was in middle school back in the late 90s. Like I can look through my yearbook and everything from the people to pictures hanging on the walls seems so fresh in my mind. In reality though, almost 25 years separates me from that time of my life.

Do you think the brains of some people perceive the passage of time differently than others?

Yes, I believe that. But it also seems to depend on the event.

DH has to get a B-12 shot once a week, and we both swear THAT 7 days between shots just flies by. No other day of the week speeds by like that.

I remember certain phases of my life with perfect clarity, but other whole sections I almost never think about. It's truly weird. Time is really subjective.

Hmm, I suspect the perception of time passing varies for everyone. Depending on what's going on in their lives, how fast or slow time seems to pass ends up being situational.

I recall that, some years ago, maybe even in the 1980's or 1990's, a study demonstrated that people really do perceive time as passing more quickly as they grew older. There may have been an age this started at, but I can't recall anymore.

This isn't the same study, I don't think, but it's about the same phenomenon:

It wouldn't at all surprise me if the perception of time can be scientifically demonstrated to vary among individuals of the same age, as well.

I'm an accountant so I have found that time flies very fast for me. I have deadlines throughout the month, the 10th, the 20th, the EOM stuff. When I'm busy these dates just run up on me and the next thing I know it's the next month. AND...... the older I get, the faster they go.

I can't believe Christmas is around the corner. We JUST did Christmas what seems like weeks ago. I know Covid has caused a "standstill" with a lot of people, but it seems it's flown by faster during the Covid shutdowns.

I don’t know but as I’ve gotten older(I’m 41) I would say time seems to be going faster and faster

Every year I seem to say I can’t beleive how quickly that year just went by.

Years seem to go by like months used to.

It is like TP (aside during pandemics of course). The closer you get to the end of the roll the faster it rolls.

Haha, so true. It actually does roll faster since it's closer to the center. Time just seems to go by faster.

I'm an accountant too and you basically spoke for me. Yeah, those deadlines just seems to come one after the other and before you know it the cycle repeats. Scary actually how time flies.
