As they say, ignorance is a bliss, and in a way so is being oversheltered from the realities of the world
So the big question pops up then
Are conformists/average joes/mainstream folks less likely hold existential thoughts and have less overall anxiety and depression than say outcasts, outliers, social rejects and freaks?
Could this also be why intelligent people tend to be such overthinkers too, compared to average and low IQ folks?
There are contradictions in the question...though I'm sure that's intentional. It may help others if you are clear about what you're considering average, intelligent, mainstream, etc.

How so? I am confused
I thought the obvious definition being here someone who conforms to the status quo, follows the mainstream, the herd, has plain and conventional interests like sports, movies, junk food, etc

That's a pretty vacuous statement though, and not "obvious" at all. I fail to see how you could pronounce ANYONE as being mainstream by any definition.
People are multifaceted and shaped by their experiences and their genetics, not their preferences. I like movies, not junk food. I'm single but my friends are not. I've lived all over the world. I like some sports but not others. I've had severe trauma in my life. I have existential thoughts rarely. None of it adds up to anything.
This constant need you have to find analytical right-or-wrong answers to the complexities of human nature and behavior seems to be problematic for you.

Mod cut.
And that line "ignorance is bliss" is from a poem by Thomas Gray; and a good question to ask oneself is, was he being serious? or tongue-in-cheek?
As to the rest ...
a lot would depend on what the individual's mainstream is.

Average joes definitely tend to be a lot less depressed and high-strung than the fragile easily offended enlighteneds who can find at least 100 different microaggressions within a 10 inch radius.
This thread quickly devolved into personal attacks and off-topic comments. It's been cleaned up, and it's now closed.
