All my grandparents were born in the 1800s. By the time I was born, only the grandfathers survived and they both died when I was a child, just barely old enough to remember meeting them, maybe age 5 or so.

My maternal grandfather was born in 1897, and I spent a lot of time with him as a kid. I only met my great-grandmother once, on her deathbed, she as born in 1872.
Being born in the 60's, I encountered people over 60 quite a bit. So, an easy Yes. My maternal grandfather would be one example, and I do remember him.
On my mom's side, I met my great grandmother once. I was young...6ish maybe. She was born in 1883.
And if I'm understanding the question correctly...on my dad's side, my grandma's parents were born in 1885 and 1886. My grandma was close with her maternal grandparents, and they were born in 1849 and 1853.
not 1900, but my husband's jewish grandmother immigrated from russia to the US in 1914. she was 4 years old. i met her in the 1980s. she was the most interesting woman i've ever met. she grew up in a one bedroom cold water flat with her family of 5 in manhattan. she and her jewish husband raised two children who were both college grads who also raised successful children. i miss her. she lived to be 102.
I was born in the mid-'90s. I never knew him but my great-grandpa was born in 1899 and died in I think 1988-89. So I never knew him, but my parents did (they were dating for 8 years before they had me).
Oldest person I can recall meeting was a woman at my parents' church growing up, who's actually still alive and still goes. I'm pretty sure she recently turned 100.
And otherwise do you know anyone who you met while alive who knew someone in person who was born before 1900? How far back can you go in the earliest born person you were ever able to ask a living person about who was living when that person was alive and knew that person in person ? I mean like asking your grandfather about his relationship with his grandfather , and remembering what he said to you about his grandfather … how far can you go back
My great grandmother was born in the 1890s. I had many good conversations with her as a kid, but sadly, she didn't have a great relationship with her parents, and never knew her grandparents because her parents immigrated from Scotland before she was born. So, no old relative stories.
I guess the furthest back I can go is my grandmother, relatively late born, who shared a room with her grandmother, born 1879, and described her in stories as a dour German woman. My grandmother preferred her more rowdy and fun Scot-Irish aunties who lived up the hill, both born in the early 1880s
That is probably it. I am sure my grandparents had conversations with people born before that, but I don't recall any specific people.
Just remembered both of DH's grandmothers were born in the mid 1890s. His paternal grandma died soon after I met her, but I knew his maternal GM quite well.
My paternal grandparents were both born in 1878. They left England when they were around 35 years old, disgusted with the poor working conditions and there are rumors of a clash with his mother in law.
My dad was their youngest child and he was born in the US. My grandmother lived to be almost 100 so I knew her well.
On my mother's side I remember my grandmother who was born in 1887 and I am positive (even though my mother didn't believe that I could remember) that I met my gt grandmother who was born in 1866. Even though I was very young, I remember a party with balloons held in an old nursing home. The building is still there and I recognized it around 20 years ago, driving by. It used to be a home for the aged. When my mother and I entered the room, I started playing with the coats that were hanging on a rack to dry since it was raining out. Suddenly a really old but energetic lady came running toward me asking, "Is this little _________ ________?" My mother sort of introduced us and I'm pretty sure that was my gt grandmother at her birthday party. All my mother's extended family was there.
