If you look at life as a school, then we are here to learn lessons to progress spiritually. Those lessons need some kind of resistance against which we can push to effect the lesson outcome. Having someone who is perfect or near-perfect means we are not going to learn much in the relationship area but that's OK, maybe we are here to learn stuff in other areas of life and our partner is here to add support for us.

This is rather like a kid who comes from a rich family where he does not have to strive for anything but gets whatever he wants when he wants it. A kid from a poor family is often more successful in life due to having to struggle against the odds to achieve his dreams.

Say what? While I certainly would agree there’s a degree of learning/maturity involved relative to forming healthy relationships, what does it have to do with ‘progressing spiritually’ - especially in a Psychology Forum?

That said, ‘true love’/healthy relationships contribute to one’s psychological health/happiness overall; it’s just as important (if not more so) to have the ability to determine when it’s not.

I totally believe in soulmates/true love. Not in a fantasy kind of way, but in a way that I believe the man has complete clarity and intuitive direction over finding the one. I believe this is really the only instance where men are intuitive. Of course, both people have to be willing and in complete acceptance of doing the work to make it last.
