Two drinks and I stop counting. I don't love the place, but I moved to a one story home so I no longer have to count stair rungs. It was always stair rungs. They'd keep me awake when I slept on the couch after my husband died.

It would be hard to act on on my intrusive thoughts.

They don't exactly lend themselves to immediate action.

I do drink.

Does anyone else have any answers? I ask because I fear I’m slowly going insane right now with OCD.

OP, have you tried to get help for your OCD? I've read that some cases can be resolved w/the right medication. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy can help some cases, too.

But to answer your OP question, yes, I've seen that happen. People who ruminate a lot and build up resentments in some cases end up taking out their resentments on people when they're under the influence of alcohol. Alcohol famously eliminates inhibitions, so those people no longer are able to regulate themselves. I've seen them going around goading people into arguments, or trying to, when under the influence. The previously withheld anger comes out, because there's nothing to stop it.

Now that I think about it, some of those may be cases, where depression is a factor, too. Depression can cause chronic rumination. You state you have OCD as if you've been evaluated and diagnosed. Have you? If not, you probably should, given your level of concern. There might be more than OCD going on, too. Just a thought. I don't know anything about your case, so I can only ask questions and offer some general suggestions.
