I agree; therapy is a solid suggestion, particularly if Matt is right (below).

If so, that isn’t manipulation; it’s just straight-up lying and pretending to be something he/she isn’t. The end result ultimately doesn’t affect anyone but her i.e. she has no advantage to gain by doing so. Still bizarre behavior, though. If, however, one pretends to be a woman or man on a dating app and/or uses fake pics, that’s manipulative.
