Maybe if you can remove the outer housing panel, you can get to the seam 'seepage' .

Good luck..

Make a thick paste with baking soda and bleach and smear it all over inside....let sit a few days. As it dries the baking soda should soak up a lot of the smell. Had to clean coolers this way after leaving bait in them all week..... And oxy clean with bleach or water works great too for the paste, maybe better.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. SJ, there's no way to get behind the seam without major deconstruction.

Sad...can only guess at what happened, but the tragic outcome might have been avoided with lifejackets. I never leave the dock without my Type V on, and I don't take it off until I get back. Bad stuff can happen fast on the water.

And a kill switch!!! PITA, but very important. Especially when boating solo.

Yep, absolutely. I go out by myself a lot, and wouldn't be without the deadman.

I found it strange that both would be ejected in an incident which ended with the boat still upright, yet both occupants drowned. Really a strange case. Thankfully, this doesn't happen often. God bless their families. Very sad.

Have to admit I've gotten really comfortable out there alone most days. Could stand to get back to basics, myself. That's why I invested in the type V vests to begin with. Haven't used them in years now that I'm in shore mostly.

If I go out alone I will generally wear an inflatable however I must admit I never wear the deadman.
