Can someone recommend a trustworthy, quality builder or general contractor in the PC area? We will be building our house in about a year and want to start getting quotes and plans finalized. The builder needs extensive concrete wall experience (as I would assume most in FL would) and references. Also, is Charlotte County Seawalls the ONLY seawall place around? About 10 people have recommended them but they want $20k for an 80ft concrete seawall!

Thanks!

Have you had a quote from Honc Marine Contracting yet?

Yes, that was an old post and we are now buying a home and selling our canal lot. But, we still need the seawall for the new place and Honc was supposed to provide a quote but have not called back yet. Due to the ridiculous price of a concrete seawall, we'll probably be going with limestone riprap.

To get a list of builders in the Charlotte County area go to the Charlotte DeSoto Building Industry Association web page and click on Directory. Then click on Builders-Residential. This site will also give you a list of vendors in the area for almost any type of work you need done on your home. If you go to Marine Contractors you will see Charlotte County Seawalls and Honc Marine Contracting as well. I use this site as a resource quite often when people ask for a particular type of service.

If you need info about the local canals the best source is Frank over at Fishin' Franks in Port Charlotte: Fishin' Frank's Bait & Tackle, Port Charlotte, FL : Reviews and maps - Yahoo! Local

You might also want to DM Big House or Harbor Hopper, they post here (mainly on the Sarasota board) frequently and are big boaters.

Other then that, what's your question? We may be smart enough to answer it

Charlie,
I live on a canal in PGI, feel free to DM me with any questions.
I am over on the Sarasota county board - that is where most of the people from Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte hang out. I usually don't come to this board much - just occationally.
