Will be down for a visit the end of Oct for a week, I like breakfast places that are not chains have that homey feel. If you have a favorite please post and we will check them out. Our Grandson will be coming with us he leaves for Army in March thought would be nice to have some time together before he goes. Hope to get out and catch some fish.

I am not a real breakfast person. I prefer my bowl of cereal. But we do on occasion go out for breakfast. My favorite place in the area is Elena's in Punta Gorda. A lot of choices, fast service and good food. In Port Charlotte, I like Olympia Rest. on 41. They have Greek style food and plenty of other choices. I love a Greek omelette. If you want to go North Port some choices are Family Table (specials weekdays and for senior citizens and all homemade food), Old World Rest (lots of choices on the menu), or Stuff a Belly (haven't been there in a few years, always busy). Top picks - Elena's #1, Family Table #2.

Enjoy your visit. October should be a nice time of year to come down.

There is an awesome little restaurant right next to the Amish Bakery, which is right around the corner of the West Marine on Tamiami (the one near publix). I have a bunch of restaurants I like to go to, but this place is very clean, and well priced. They just opened it earlier this year.

Can't stand Olympia, but House of Subs has a decent breakfast, as does the Country Kitchen in PG, but I just drove by there yesterday and it looks like it is now a Cuban Restaurant. Deans in PG has breakfast, but we tried it once and didn't go back.
I'll have to try the Cozie Cafe.

Yeah, the Cozie Cafe is a nice place for breakfast or a lighter lunch. I liked it and it is worth a stop-in if you are in the area.

I went to the new Cuban restaurant in PG yesterday. It was OK. The waitress could barely understand me when I asked a couple easy questions like "what is the soup of the day", and some other things about the menu. The food had small portions - it was good. I would say it is authentic cuban home style cooking, and the menu was written in Spanish and English. I want to try a few other things before I give it any recommendation.

It's promising to see a couple of recommendations. I'll try the Cozy place soon. Breakfast was my favorite meals to eat out when I lived in Asheville NC. There were several exceptional choices and I admit to getting kind of spoiled.
