I need some wood for a backyard fire tonight. Anyone know where I can buy some (not really looking for the bundles from a gas station, but more like 1/2 a pickup load). I checked craigslist, and surprisingly, there are only two guys around PC and neither answered the phone. If you know of anything, let me know. Thanks!

Try some of the tree service companies. I think they may sell firewood. Not sure who though. They have the bundles at Home Depot too. We will be cutting down some of the oaks in our yard shortly. We have to get a permit. Our neighbor is taking some of the wood for his firepit. But we may have leftovers. I can contact you when we cut them down if you want some. But I know it won't help for now.

Permit to cut down a tree?? Really?
I have a chainsaw and will help cut it if I can have some (whenever you're ready of course).

Yeah, the neighbor across the street works for the county and if we don't get a permit, they will come looking for us. Anyway, we have to see if we have to get a permit. He said we better check. We are cutting down 3 oak trees. We are cutting them ourselves and bringing the limbs to the Charlotte County transfer station. Then the neighbor wants some of the wood for the firepit and will stack it in his backyard. Always something isn't it? If they can get you for a fee, they will. I will DM you when we cut them down if you want some of the wood you can have it. We live in Port Charlotte.

hahahaha, funny guy They would take forever to dry out enough to burn.
I got some split oak today from a tree company. TamRE, thanks. Like I said, I will gladly help cut, if I can take away maybe 1/2 a pickup load. Now that we have a fire pit out by the water, I hope to use it quite often in the "cooler" months.
Beers tonight at our place! Come one, come all

Maybe we will. I'll mention it. I know that we are supposed to be meeting some people later tonight.

Does this mean we're going to need a permit to cut some scrub trees on our vacant lot next week? How big do they have to be so you need a permit?

I would call Charlotte County to see if you need a permit. We need one to cut down three oak trees on our property. Here is the link to the permit application: http://www.charlottefl.com/outreach/...ePermitApp.PDF
