When I moved to Florida I had a similar time constraint. I went on Trulia to view rentals as they always have a lot. I then contacted a listing agent that was on a lot of the properties I was interested in. That way I could get screen checked just once. Ended up in a great place.

Just a quick comment about what I have learned, if the property manager doesn't call you back look for a new one- as there are many. They will not call you back once you move in either. I am still learning that everything moves slower down here- Had a dishwasher issue when we moved in (Feb 6th) just got fixed yesterday (feb 29). Still waiting on a decision about the carpet that was ruined by the last renters and their animals. Just be careful.

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone but ,we stumbled upon a place for rent, that is literally within a 1 minute walk from where we're building! We were checking out the lot 2 nights ago when a neighbor came by and said there was a house for rent, just down the street. Now I can walk down there every day and check things out as they progress.
