Hello to all,
I've been reading this forum as a visitor as my wife and I looked for a house in this area. Everyone seems to be friendly and helpful so I'll throw out a question. We are very close to a deal on a house in Rotonda. (I hope this is the right area forum). As work keeps us in the northeast for now we will be down for a time in winter plus renting to family and friends to help with costs. The house needs some TLC that we will do ourselves but a rental car isn't going to make it. Finally to my question. Any suggestions on where to rent a pickup in the Ft Myers area? We will be flying into Ft Myers and would like to pick it up and drop off somewhere not too far from the airport. All this fishing talk is getting me excited but that will have to wait for now.
Thanks for any suggestions

I know that the Hertz rental on Tamiami trail in Port Charlotte has pick up trucks but not at the Airport. You might try Uhaul they have vans might get a better deal but you will need a ride to and from tha Airport

You'll learn as I did that renting is expensive. Quickly I bought a decent used Ford Explorer to keep down here, so we could fly (cheaply) and have a car here to use rather than rent one. I ended up selling it this year for what I paid for it, and I had it here and drove it for 3 years.

I think he is way more dyslexic than me. (at least I think someone is. . . ) But since I speak dyslexia he said the Home Depot near Rotunda rents trucks hourly, but he isn't sure they have any for sale.

thanks
i've checked enterprise (they'll pick you up!) and they will rent pickups but it is expensive. they quote 450/week but that will double with insurances and taxes ect...I'll look at Uhaul vans. I saw one in traffic with 19.99 on the side panel , maybe that's per day. Big House mentioned a used vehicle. did you leave that at your house? how about transport to and from the airport?

At $20.00 per day the van is 1/4 the price of the rental

Yeah, I left it at my house. I had BJs Airport Service (941-235-3111) run me to the airport when I needed it. Sometimes a friend would drop me off. I bought it used, but in decent shape - so I didn't have to pay depreciation - I also paid cash for it so I didn't have any payments or interest to worry about, and when I sold it I made a couple bucks on it after using it for a couple years.
