anyone care to have a guess ? this was outside our garage this evening, about 7-8 inches long , head up looking quite aggresive..

A juvenile black racer looks very similar to a water moccasin. Since that snake's head is wider than the body I would NOT be getting too close. I'd say it's one or the other, and either harmless....or deadly .

And, Baby snakes are often more venomous than adults....Be carefull. I wonder where the mother and the rest of them are???

defintely wasnt a black racer. we did worry it was a moccasin or pygmy rattler but someone assures us it was a corn snake

Yuck! I hate snakes. If my dog finds them in our yard, she plays with them. We have seen a lot of snakes lately on our walks around the neighborhood. Not sure if the rain water brought them out or what. They scurry in the grass and run across the road and I saw one sunning itself in a tree. I just scream and run the other way. You won't get me close enough to take a photo, poisonous or not.

OMG, you don't call animal control for a harmless little snake. If everyone called animal control for every snake near their home, we would need more AC officers than sheriff's deputies.

Definitely an eastern corn snake. We had one a couple of weeks ago. They are harmless.

Yeah its a corn snake. My step son and daughter had them as pets. Very harmless.
