We'll be vacationing in the area next month (Don Pedro Island, close to Stump Pass). We'll have a boat (21' bowrunner) and some charts, but we're not familiar with the waters. We'd like to find a place to take the kids waterskiing or tubing. It seems like there are a lot of shallow areas - is there anyplace where we can ski without worrying about running aground?

Most of the harbor is fine, just stay away from the shore after getting through the channel markers. Anywhere you see a sailboat you know you are good.

Oh, do you know about the sharks in the area? Locals don't go in the water. If you've ever seen the tarpon tourney in Boca Pass you wouldn't go in.

No worries though. I'm a scuba diver and can't wait till I can get in and swim with the 'big fisheys'

Have a blast!
