I recently used Integrity Electric (941) 628-1993. One man show, so no high overhead costs. I had a problem with my 4th "smart" meter and FPL wouldn't touch it (big surprise). The owner Bob came out about 2 hours after being called and got the issue taken care of in the meter box. Cost was reasonable, but most importantly, speedy, reliable service.
No recommendation for a plumber. I've only used one down here, McDonough's, and while the blockage was removed, it took them longer than it should've and the cost was excessive (they have a large fleet and property on 41, which means HIGH overhead to pay for). I'll stick with the small guys next time.

We have another plumber and electrician that we use during the winter, but they are up north for the summer. I agree, smaller independent contractors are usually less expensive.

For plumbing, we used The Plumbing Doctor II. The repiped our house about two years ago. The owner himself came out the same day i called and gave me an estimate, with both short term and long term solutions. They came in right on budget and did the work fast. Very professional clean up too. My neighbors used them after me and were equalling pleased. They also have an A+ rating with the BBB?

Their number is 941-255-0001.

For Electric, we use AC Delta. My neighbor Steve works there; great guy, hardest worker I know; his father in law owns the company. Steve has done numerous projects for us and our neighbors and everyone loves his work and work ethic. They also have an A+ rating with the BBB. Their number is 941-627-6887.

Good luck.

(Funny, TamRE...I posted this and then realized u and I gave the same Electric referral. Must mean something good!)
