We have used West Coast Screen and Window Repair. Jesse (the owner) is a nice guy and has done a good job on several projects . He made a new sliding patio door for us (custom size) where the other company said "it can't be done due to a none standard size" Jesse doesn't mind small projects or working on older modest homes like ours

It is not too hard to replace screens yourself-I have become pretty handy with a splining tool-just not the screens on top of the pool cage!!

OK. Sorry to go against one of your recommendations TamRe.

I had Scotts Screens re-screen my pool cage last year. I was happy with his demeanor and price so went with him, plus he was recommended on this site too. I did have a problem with one area of the ceiling pulling loose twice after the re-screen. The first time he sent someone to repair it. Great...no problem there. A month or so later, the same area came loose again. When I called him about it, he gave me story about how he doesn't guarantee his work on "older" screen enclosures that take square (?) splines. Of course, there was no mention of this beforehand. I even checked with a friend who was present the entire time Scott was at the house for the estimate and he said there was no mention of that. He did repair the screen the second time, but made it clear that he would NOT be coming back again.

As a side note, while we all were chit-chatting after the estimate, an elder gentleman across the canal was cutting his grass on his riding mower. My friend shouted "Look!" and we all saw that he had rode his mover off of the lawn and was hung up on his rip-rap bulkhead, precariously close to tumbling into the canal . My buddy and I rushed to the other side of the canal (I live at the end, so it's not a far drive) and helped get him off the tractor and pull the tractor back up into the yard with the help of another neighbor who had witnessed it too. When we got back to the house, Scott was gone. MAYBE he would have mentioned about the older screen cages if we weren't distracted??? Either way, it should have been verbalized or better yet written as a disclosure on the estimate.
