I had a small back up last night, and I checked and it seems to be backing up from the tank. It flows to the clean out just outside the house, then kicks back once the flush goes by, telling me its kicking back from the tank. I am hoping its just a tank pump. The house is 11 years old and I bet it has never been pumped so its due.

I need a septic pumper who is reliable and fair. I would appreciate any one who has a recommendation.

Englewood Environmental, Busy Bee, there are a ton around here and they will all charge $200-300 including permit. It's a very basic, routine service that should be done every 3-5 yrs

Try any of the other dozen or more companies. For a pump out, they're pretty much all the same. Now if they tell you your system is failing, get a 2nd opinion ASAP! For yoir sake, I hope the previous owners didn't plant a bunch of rooty trees & shrubs over the drain field. That will surely cause premature system failure.

Hopefully whoever you hire will check and clean the filter leading from the tank to the drain field.

I had a similar problem where the tank was full and backing up, especially after doing a load of laundry or multiple showers. Fearing the worst, I called the company that installed my tank last year. They came right out, dug up the clean-out cover, pulled the filter element, and declared it clogged. They then rinsed it off and reinstalled it. Since then, no problem. They said that the most common causes of the filter getting blocked is lint from washing machines, followed next by hair. I've since put and old nylon stocking on the washing machine discharge hose. It's simply amazing to see how much lint gets captured after only a few loads of laundry.

While the septic company had the tank clean-out cover open, I took measurement from the cover to the house and drew a little "treasure map" so that if it backs up again I can dig it up and clean the filter myself.

There was another thread on the subject of septic tanks here not too long ago. You may find some good info there.

Maryland already has a flush tax, along with a rain tax. Don't give Fl any ideas!

I called Englwood and they are coming out today. I was quoted 265, and no there are no plantings on the field. I planted a date palm at the end of the field about 6 months ago, but I specifically put it at the very end of the field. I do have to pick up a toilet ring and reset the one toilet. It blew out from the back pressure. No probs there, I have sent hundreds of toilets.
