I was at Fisherman's Village this morning and decided to go check out the Iron Ox. Well Bill was there and we talked for a few minutes. Very nice guy. He said he should be up and running by November. I have followed his work on the boat at www.fishtheclassic.com. He has a Shamrock as well.

If you go he is next to the King Fisher Fleet.

He said he will post here when he starts as well as facebook.

It's nice to see a workboat/commercial fisherman in the local waters.

I would like to go with him some night just to see how it works. Being on the water anytime is OK by me.

Clint

Nice, Clint. I'd like to experience that as well. Tell him if he's ever short handed, he's likely to have a reserve force of deckhands OM City-Data!

When I saw the "For Sale" sign on the Iron Ox last year I mentioned to a friend that we should buy it and charge tourist to take them out shrimping and then split the catch with them. We figured we'd pretty much look like Forrest Gump and Lt. Dan out there and dismissed it. And no, I'm not saying who looks like who.

MikMal, he has done a crap load of work to her. To get a good idea what he did you need to read his posts on the other forum.

I had never seen her before today and was a little surprised how small she is. I don't know anything about shrimping but it seems she is the perfect size for our harbor. I think he said 85 hp. diesel and turning a 28 inch wheel. Low speed but a lot of torque.

MA maybe we should talk to him. It would be sweet to see the harbor at night and learn something new as well. It won't be long before a waterman's work will be gone, especially on this scale.

I hope he makes enough money to keep going.

Are you sure the link is correct? I haven't been able to find anything related to the Iron Ox; all the links on that page go to adds and "this domain is for sale".

I'm sorry MikMal it is as MartyGras said. Not .com but .net. I have it as a link in my computer. I guess it's kinda like speed dial on the cell phone.
