There is a building boom going on. I doubt they are sitting around. Instead, they are working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Next time you are driving around on Sat or Sun, take a look at the new homes that are under construction. You will see workers there 7 days a week.

I wouldn't exactly say there's a building "boom" going on.... is it getting better, yes. But far from a "boom"

In each one of those examples, a "boom" is being compared to the past 3-4 years which was dismal at best. In that sense, ok, you win, I guess it could be considered a boom, though very subjective. I would call it optimistically steady, but hey, what do I know??

That's funny every time I pass a house under construction it seems NOBODY is there ~ I've seen rafters laying on the ground for weeks ~ Walls but no roof.

and in England to :-)

acronym for clearing off early on a Friday

years ago I worked for a lovely Irish guy, typical paddy worked hard played hard
we did 8-6 every day minimum but Friday we worked till about 1.30 then hit the pub and the week was done

his motto was 'don't come to the office drunk'
he didn't mean don't come back drunk, he meant get drunk and don't come back !!! It was rule he instigated the day his son brought a car full of people back around 4pm and they fell out drunk as lords ....in front of the bank manager !!!
